Coveney Nicholls has its roots in Croydon, over 60 years ago. Jeff Kelly and John Mabey both did their training at the firm in the early 1980s before going on to post qualification experience at what is now Price Waterhouse Coopers. After around 10 years with the major accounting firms, Jeff and John decided to return to the firm and combine their ‘Big Four’ skills and experience with a small firm personal service from a new base in Reigate providing a corporate and a private client service practice.
In 1999 we established a specialist practice in medical accounting after acquiring Deloitte’s medical services division in Gatwick. Our services are now used by over 40 GP practices in London and the South East. Sue Beaton transferred to the firm following the acquisition and has been instrumental in making the medical accounting service a success.
The firm opened a second office in Chelsea in the heart of west London three years ago to develop our corporate services division and is headed up by Jeff Kelly and Gareth Turner, and a third in the heart of Sussex in East Court, East Grinstead more recently to service private clients in a local area to John Mabey and Matthew Bennett.
Matthew Bennett joined Coveney Nicholls after qualification and in 2005 was appointed a director having worked in all three areas of our practice. He is now co-ordinating our practice development as Managing Partneras we expand our footprint in a rapidly changing professional environment.
Charlotte Turner is now managing an internal management accounting function, to deliver payroll, VAT and management accounting services to our clients. With MTD (Making Tax Digital) she is looking forward to helping our clients comply with their relevant responsibilities.
In 2018 we joined fy International, an association of independent international accountants to broaden our ability to serve our clients in an ever more global economy, and to help deal with the uncertainties that political events such as Brexit bring to owner managed businesses.
